Just a few more

Just a few more days, 7 1/2 to be specific, of school left. We have made it through the Spring Musical where Kenley put on quite the production of "You're Never Fully Dressed without a Smile" from Annie. We have the end of the year pool party next week and half a day on Friday.
We spent Mother's Day at the Lake. It was Jax's first weekend to spend the night at the lake. Kenley swam and jumped on her new trampoline!! She has never had so much fun! It was the best purchase ever made! Sunday morning she woke up and immidiately ran to her trampoline, pajamas and all! She also spent a lot of time in the pool. I got two full nights of sleep, as Daddy took care of Jax.
Try Outs went well for Kenley. She made Level 3 cheerleader at Texas Cheer. She still has one more skill to work on over the summer. So she has some tough work ahead of her, but she is ready.

Academic Awards

We attended Academic Awards tonight at Kenley's school. She was acknowledged for achieving Eagle Reader. That means she earned over 50 points this year by reading books and taking computerized tests over them in the accelerated reading program in her class. Only 7 out of 19 kids received this award in her class. Each book was worth .5 points, if she scored perfectly in the test. The teacher is not allowed to help at all on the tests. These books are read in the students own time. During the peak of cheer season, I will tell you on top of spelling words and memory and homework sometimes it was TOUGH! However, she was determined! We are very proud of her accomplishment!
We are on to cheer tryouts tomorrow and her Spring Musical, Annie, this Friday! Her brother was a fabulous attendee to her awards ceremony! I'm quite certain he lives to her the laughter and roar of her friends!

Well..

I wrote my last post Friday as we were driving to the pediatrician's office. I mean what else do you do when your in the car from Klein to the medical center? Write a blog? That's what most new mommies do? Garrett talks on his phone about concrete and cranes and other things that blow my mind. Jax sleeps to hum of the vibrations of the car and sound of great music played on the Highway, my favorite station on Sirius Radio.
We were headed there because Jax hadn't been quite right for the last week. His feedings weren't going great, he wasn't using the bathroom great, he just wasn't feeling great. I had an inclination that he was suffering from Pyloric Stenosis, the same as his sister when she was 5 weeks old. Friday morning at 7am when he proceeded to vomit an entire undigested bottle all over me and my bed, his bed, 3 outfits, and his changing table I knew it was time to make some calls. We left the house at about 10:30. Dr. Don Schaffer, who treated Kenley as well, trusted my instincts and sent us immediately toTexas  Children's Hospital for an ultrasound. That was completed around 1:30 or so where it was confirmed that Jaxon had pyloric stenosis and would need surgery. The process was started. We had been through the same thing with Kenley, so the stress was significantly less, but still
not easy to watch your one month old have an IV put in his little arm. Jaxon had not eaten since 7 am. I had him the moby wrap and literally walked the halls of Texas Children's with him strapped to my body. He was a trooper. I am so grateful to Karrie Looney and the Kellerman family for that little jewel! Who knew my Moby Wrap would be soo handy!! My body ached when I got home that night! They were trying to do the surgery Friday night, but he was too dehydrated, so Saturday morning was the best they could do, he would have to spend a night on IV fluids. We made it to the NICU at about 7pm. We had a wonderful nurse named Eden, who was the most caring and gentle woman. She was going to do anything in her power to keep him comfortable through the night as he was STARVING!!! We left about 9pm, and we were confident he was in excellent hands! We stayed in the motor home in the parking lot of Baker Concrete, so we were 10 minutes away from him. We had to be at the hospital at 6am for surgery.
His surgery was Saturday at 7:30 am. Everything went well. He spent most of Saturday extremely sedated and did pretty well with his feedings of pedialyte. He had to have his IV redone 2 more times, thankfully my Dad and Garrett stayed with him through that, as I couldn't watch another IV be put into my baby, much less 2 more!
He was finally able to start having formula early Sunday morning, while thankfully Eden was taking care of him again. When arrived at the hospital Sunday morning at 10am, he was ready to go home!! We were elated!
He slept under our patio most of the afternoon while Kenley and Spencer played! He loves to be outside already, just like sister. All his grandparents, Aunt Kendra and Julie came to visit. And we had dinner celebrating Grampa Gary's birthday and his arrival home. Daddy replaced 2 outdoor light fixtures to burn off steam! He was a little stressed!
His first night home he slept from 10:30 until 3:50!!! And then got up at 7:50! All in all I would say the surgery was a success!
Kenley still got to run in Trinity's first annual Graffiti Fun run with Grampa. She even got to spend a night with us in the motor home which is her favorite thing to do!

Adjusting to Normal? What is normal?

Jax turned 4 weeks old this past Monday, I'm not going to say 1 month, because that is too dramatic. I will use weeks. He's 4 weeks okay. For a woman who thought she didn't want anymore children other than her SEVEN year old princess and had to be CONVINCED by her husband to have a baby I sure do love my baby...hey Garrett want to have another?? Bahahahha!!
We are working hard at getting on a "schedule". I use this term lightly, because Jax must think that is an awfully funny word! He is waking up every 3 hours, without fail! That is pretty tough on a Mommy who had every intent of returning to her office at the end of May. However, I'm counting my blessings that I am able to work peacefully from the home office everyday when Norma arrives to care for my sweet boy.
Kenley is fully immersed in "cheer life" and preparing for try outs coming up this week. She is finishing up first grade. We are all looking forward to attending her Spring Musical, Annie. She was also invited to the Academic Awards. She participated in field day last week, she placed first in the 200yd relay with her team and 2nd place in the 100yd dash. She loves her brother and is an awesome big sister and a great helper.
She went on her first out of town sleep over with friends last weekend to San Antonio with 2 of her friends!
